Who ever heard of a blue ox? Only anyone familiar with the tales of Paul Bunyan! Which, honestly, is almost everybody, if they’ve also been lucky to learn about the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Oregon, Washington, and Canada. Apparently, Paul and his buddy Babe the Blue traveled around a lot, because all of those states – and our neighboring country to the north – like to claim Paul and Babe the Blue as their own. And who can blame them?! Anyway, Paul found Babe as a calf in a snowdrift, stained blue from the snow and cold. He took Babe home and warmed him up (aww! Paul Bunyan was one of the first heroes of animal rescue!), but Babe stayed blue!Which, we gotta say, lends a lot to the power of the babe (sorry, couldn’t resist that #Labyrinthreference)!
